Quick Tip

I'm still getting my energy back from the flu, but that doesn't mean I can't share a quick tip. My Charles recently inherited a vintage oil painting that used to belong to his grandmother. It hadn't been stored very well, so I needed to fix the divots and creases that had been made by other, heavy items leaning against the canvas.

How do you repair an old canvas that has that type of damage? It's easy! Wet a sponge or washcloth until it's nicely saturated, and then run it up and down the back of the canvas. Continue until the back is moist. As the canvas dries, it will tighten back up. I use this trick quite often when one of my pieces is slightly damaged during transit or while on display. It works like a charm! Though with older pieces, you may need to repeat the process, just to make sure the canvas tightens up as much as possible.
